Nisswa Lions announce Pork-on-a-Stick schedule
The Nisswa Lions Club announces its schedule for World Famous Pork-on-a-Stick, which the club started selling in 1988.
After several trials, Schaefer’s Foods came up with the special cut of pork the club serves. In the late 1990s, the club developed its own spice recipe that is sold separately. The pork is also marinated in a special sauce.
This year the Nisswa Lions put all new gas grills in the trailer.
Funds generated from Pork-on-a-Stick go back into the community. On special occasions the club dedicates funds to a specific cause such as a fire victim or someone needing eye care.
Following is the schedule:
Friday-Saturday, May 24-25, Memorial Day weekend, Schaefer’s parking lot; Friday-Saturday, June 21-22, Majestic Pines Craft Fair, Nisswa Community Center; Wednesday, July 3, Freedom Day, downtown Nisswa; Saturday, July 13, car show, downtown Nisswa; Friday-Saturday, Aug. 9-10, Crazy Days in Nisswa; Friday-Saturday, Aug. 30-31, Labor Day weekend in Nisswa; Saturday, Sept. 21, Fall Harvest Festival, in Nisswa by chamber building; Friday, Nov. 29, Nisswa City of Lights, in Nisswa by chamber building.
