Emily Fire Department takes on grass fires

Emily Fire Chief Kenny Roden reported responding to two grass fires Tuesday, May 14. At 6:20 p.m. the department responded to a call for a fire off Blue Lake Road, which Roden said burned 5-10 acres.

Roden said the fire started north of a gravel pit. While he was unsure of the cause, he said there had been burning at the site a month or so ago, and that it’s possible stumps had been smoldering underground.
