Free property tax preparation available

RSVP Volunteer Services announces its summer tax preparation schedule for taxpayers seeking assistance in applying for the Property Tax Refund Program.

Trained, certified volunteer tax preparers will be available to assist property owners and renters to accurately complete the forms needed to apply for a refund. This is a free service available to all middle- and low-income taxpayers.

Volunteer sites include the Center in Brainerd, Jessie F. Hallett Memorial Library in Crosby and the Pequot Lakes Library.

Summer schedule:

• The Center, 803 Kingwood St., Brainerd, 9-11:30 a.m. May 8, June 19, July 17 and Aug. 7. Call 218-829-9345 for an appointment.

• Jesse F. Hallett Memorial Library, 101 First St. S.E., Crosby, 1-4 p.m. May 29, July 10 and Aug. 7. No appointment necessary.

• Pequot Lakes Library, 31069 County Road 112, Pequot Lakes, 1-4 p.m. Aug. 8. No appointment necessary.

To file for the 2012 property tax refund, bring your 2012 Social Security 1099SSA, 1099-Rs, 1099 INT, 1099-DIVs, W-2s and include your 2013 property tax statement. If you have not previously filed your 2011 property tax refund, bring your 2011 income statements and your 2012 property tax statement.
