Fishing opener approaches with two feet of ice on area lakes
With less than three weeks left, a million-dollar question lingers on the minds of fishermen across the state: Will the ice be out in time for the May 11 walleye and northern pike fishing opener?
“My educated guess would be no,” said Sgt. Scott Goddard with the Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office water patrol. “Some of the smaller lakes that are spring fed, I could see them opening earlier.”
