Pequot Lakes girl to compete in state pageant

Courtney Ashleigh Boller, 11, Pequot Lakes, is a state finalist for the National American Miss Minnesota Pageant to be held June 1 and 2 in Bloomington.

She is the daughter of Scott and Karen Boller. Her activities and interests include swimming, tennis, soccer and softball, as well as baking, playing with animals, biking, ice skating, tubing and horseback riding.

National American Miss pageants are for girls ages 4-18. There are five age divisions. Boller will participate in the pre-teen age division.

The pageant winner will receive a $1,000 cash award, crown and banner, and will compete in the national pageant in California.

National American Miss pageants are kept age-appropriate. Girls under age 12 are not allowed to wear makeup and there is no swimsuit competition. The pageant program is based on inner beauty, poise and presentation.

An emphasis is put on the importance of developing self-confidence, learning good sportsmanship and setting and achieving personal goals.
