Old pot attracts attention of Jenkins history buffs

The Jenkins History Group has heralded a local resident who served in the military with Elvis Presley, researched Ma Jenkins' memorable cookie recipe, and mapped out several original city buildings and tote roads.

Find out Tuesday, April 16, why a centuries-old pot, known as the Poualak Pot, found near the Jenkins city limits made enough of an impact to become part of the many prized relics at the Minnesota History Center.

The history group will meet from 6-8:30 p.m. at Jenkins City Hall.

The group seeks long-time area families to share their stories. Help locate the original Jenkins stores, banks and other buildings on a unique map featuring chronological overlays from antiquity to present-day Jenkins.

Hear about evolving plans to showcase the richness of Jenkins history. See a tentative implementation timeline. Find out how you can help support your favorite parts of the project.

And, enjoy refreshments and reminiscing.
