Jamie Eastman crowned Miss Pine River

Pine River-Backus High School’s Jamie Eastman was crowned Miss Pine River on Saturday, April 6, in the PR-B High School’s old gym at the 34th annual Miss Pine River Pageant.

Katrina Adkins was crowned first princess. Kristle Peltier was crowned second princess, and Amanda Fleming won Miss Congeniality.

Candidates were escorted by seniors Drey Loge and Cody Mager.

Members of the royalty are awarded scholarships following the completion of their first college term. For Miss Pine River, the scholarship was $1,000. For first princess, it was $400. Second princess receives $300, and Miss Congeniality will receive $50.

This year’s pageant attracted nine contestants, which also included Candice Zaczkowski, Darlene Hanson, Joanna Richards, Kasey Helms and Sophie Williams.

To determine a winner, all contestants took part in a personal interview with judges, a presentation of casual business wear, a talent show and evening gown presentation.

The 2013 Miss Pine River royalty will represent Pine River in parades, neighboring pageants, Pine River Duck Races, Summerfest and other festivities.

Also present at the pageant were 2012 royalty, including Miss Pine River and Miss Congeniality Melina Birchem, first princess Maggie Griffith and second princess Shona Nagel. Emcee at the event was Pine River State Bank’s Al Ploeger.
