The Crow Wing Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) is seeking applications for Stormwater Reduction Mini-Grants to fund projects to be implemented in 2013-2014 within Crow Wing County (CWC). Potential applicants can contact the SWCD for free assistance with Stormwater Reduction Mini-Grant applications. SWCD Staff can help to select materials, identify costs, and can provide feedback on project plans, according to Melissa Barrick, SWCD District Manager.

Eligible applicants include schools, churches, neighborhood associations, local businesses, and residents of local communities. Grant requirements include 25 percent in-kind cash match. Projects must also be designed for a 10-year minimum lifetime and include maintenance contracts with two-year minimum duration.

SWCD, CWC, Board of Water and Soil Resources, Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, and University of Minnesota Extension will review, score, and rank the applications.

Applicants for projects located in areas around lakes and streams with declining water quality and projects that involve community partnerships and public awareness will receive higher scores. Proposed projects should also address the 2008 Crow Wing County Water Plan priorities.

April 1 is the deadline for applications. To apply, download the application online at http://www2.co.crow-wing.mn.us/swcd/Grants.htm#GrantsforCitizens or email robert.bauer@crowwingswcd.org.

If you have questions contact the Crow Wing SWCD. Phone 218-828-6197 or e-mail robert.bauer@crowwingswcd.org

Funds for Stormwater Reduction Mini-Grants are provided by the Minnesota Board of Soil and Water Resources through the Clean Water, Land, and Legacy Amendment of 2008.
