Trees, Shrubs for the Birds topic of March 14 Wild Ones meeting

The Brainerd Chapter Wild Ones and Bonnie Hiniker will present Trees and Shrubs for the Birds at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, March 14, at the Northland Arboretum in Brainerd.

Learn how to use Minnesota’s own trees and shrubs to create a symphony of color, sound and motion in your yard. Hiniker will talk about the species our feathered friends love and how the blossoms and color they produce can be used to create an attractive landscape.

Hiniker has a horticulture degree from the University of Minnesota and studied landscape design at Central Lakes College. She owns and operates Sunshine Garden Nursery and Landscaping north of Pine River, now in its 16th year of growing native plants for sale from seed.

Wild Ones promotes environmentally sound landscaping practices to preserve biodiversity through the preservation, restoration and establishment of native plant communities. Contact for more information.

Cost is $3 for the public and free for Wild Ones members.
