A public auction will be held at the farm operated by Adams and Wymore formerly known as the Martini place, 4 miles south of Pine River on the old highway, on Saturday, March 5. Sale begins at 11 a.m.

W.C. Day installed a large new turning lathe in his up-to-date blacksmith shop last week. The new equipment will enable Mr. Day to do considerable work that was not possible before the installation.

Six “leap year” birthdays were celebrated last Saturday in Pine River — and six very happy people went home with lots of birthday presents that evening.

Angie Carlson, an eighth-grade pupil of the Pillager School, was named county spelling champion at the Cass County spelling contest held at Pine River School on Friday, Feb. 28.

(editorial) I read with amazement the article by the Minnesota coalition for seat belts. They actually want the state to tell you how to take care of yourself while driving your car on the public roads that your tax money paid for.

Second-place win by Journal at convention. At the Minnesota Newspaper Convention in Minneapolis recently. The “house ad” shown below was awarded a second-place certificate in the Better Newspaper Contest.

When it was announced that Kelly McCluskey was the Minnesota Social Studies Teacher of the Year, I believe that not many PR-B teachers were surprised. I also believe that not too many students were surprised.
