Longville man pleads guilty to murder

A Longville man pleaded guilty Thursday, Feb. 21, in Cass County District Court to second-degree murder, according to Cass County Attorney Christopher Strandlie.

Frank Jesse LaRose, 24, pleaded guilty to the Feb. 5, 2012, slaying of James Raymond Elmberg, 31, of Walker.

LaRose said he and Elmberg as well as other friends had been drinking together at LaRose’s home during the day and into the evening and early morning hours of Feb. 4 and 5, 2012. During the course of the night LaRose and another individual began to argue and Elmberg intervened.

LaRose said he perceived that Elmberg was lunging at him and struck him in the chest with a knife. LaRose said he did not intend to kill Elmberg.

Sentencing is scheduled for 9 a.m. April 4 at the Cass County Courthouse.
