Carissa Voels crowned Miss Nisswa

Carissa Voels, a Brainerd High School senior, was crowned Miss Nisswa on Friday night, Feb. 15, at Lutheran Church of the Cross in Nisswa.

Pequot Lakes High School seniors Nicole Traut and Elise Runberg were first and second princesses, respectively.

Little Miss Nisswa is Mattie Holst.

Outstanding essay winner was Runberg. Outstanding personal interview winner was Kaitlyn Christianson.

The Miss Congeniality title went to all nine contestants in a nine-way tie:

Voels, Traut, Runberg, Christianson, Anna Bieganek, Kara Hansen, Megan

Hintz, Molly Palm and Samantha Rathman.

After graduating high school in 2004, I attended Central Lakes College in Staples, MN for 2 years where I got a diploma in Communication Art and Design. I then transfered up to Bemidji State University in, you guessed it, Bemidji, MN. In the spring of 2009, I graduated from BSU. Then in the fall of 2009 I got a job at Echo Publishing, a sister company to the Brainerd Dispatch.
