Around 300 snowmobilers experienced the Brainerd lakes area’s extensive snowmobile trail system Thursday-Sunday, Feb. 7-10, when the Minnesota United Snowmobilers Association (MnUSA) hosted the 2013 MnUSA Winter Rendezvous at Cragun’s Resort on Gull Lake.

Members of the Gull Lake Drifters snowmobile club led a Friday VIP ride that brought riders through Fritz Loven Park in Lake Shore on their way to the Nisswa American Legion for lunch.

The stopped at the park to enjoy the scenery, a bonfire and coffee served by the Nisswa Chamber of Commerce.

Other Friday events included a silent auction, hospitality reception, fireworks display and bonfire at Cragun’s.

Saturday events included guided trail rides, silent auction and a banquet and awards program. John Terwilliger of Lake Shore, a Gull Lake Drifters member, was surprised when he received the Unsung Hero Award at the banquet for his continuing efforts to promote snowmobiling.

The event was hosted by the Crow Wing County Snowmobile Trail Association, which is made up of 10 clubs in Crow Wing County and two in southern Cass County.
