$34,000 available for groups to improve water quality
The Crow Wing Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) is seeking applications for Stormwater Reduction Mini-Grants to fund projects to be implemented in 2013-14 within Crow Wing County (CWC).
Project proposals from community partners will reduce stormwater runoff and improve lakes and streams in CWC.
Representatives of schools, churches, neighborhood associations, local businesses and residents of local communities are all encouraged to submit applications.
A panel of representatives from SWCD, CWC, Board of Water and Soil Resources, Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, and University of Minnesota Extension will review, score and rank the applications. Applicants for projects located in areas around lakes and streams with declining water quality and projects that involve community partnerships and public awareness will receive higher scores. Proposed projects should also address the priorities of the 2008 County Water Plan.
All projects require a minimum 25 percent in-kind cash match. Projects must also be designed for a 10-year minimum lifetime and include maintenance contracts with two-year minimum duration.
The deadline for applications is Monday, April 1. Applications and application guidelines are available at Crow Wing SWCD Office located in the Crow Wing County Land Services Building, or online at http://www2.co.crow-wing.mn.us/swcd/Grants.htm#GrantsforCitizens.
