Crosslake Ice Racing season gets under way

A total of 21 entries participated in the inaugural event of the 2013 Crosslake Ice Racing season on Saturday, Jan. 19.  

Taking first place in the studded tire class was Matt Borden of Merrifield in car No. 80, with second place going to Taylor Pratt of Merrified in car No. 2, and third place was taken by Mark Peterson of Brainerd in car No. 19.

In the age 15 and under class, Dylan Nelson of Merrifield in car 25 took first, with Logan Pratt of Merrifield in car No. T4 taking second, and his brother, Logan Pratt,  in the Superman car taking third.  

In the rubber tire class, Borden in car No. 80 took first, with Shawn Pratt of Merrifield in the Superman car taking second, and Larry Juaire of Brainerd  in car No. 4 taking third.

Ice racing activities will take place every Saturday at noon on Big Pine Lake, south of downtown Crosslake in front of the Cedar Chest, until the ice conditions no longer warrant.

Spectators are welcome to view the races  by taking Big Pine Trail east from County Road 3 approximately a quarter mile to the public access and following a plowed road on the lake to the spectator parking lot on the southwest side of the track. There is no charge for admission.
