Kristen Gangl’s mission is to motivate the community, one member at a time, to get excited about fitness and to provide each person with the means to reach their fitness goals and partner with them to see major changes in their body, fitness level and health as a result.

The Snap Fitness manager, personal trainer and instructor shares the following advice with people looking to exercise in the new year.

“I would encourage those who have been away from fitness to start slow, with about 20 minutes of cardio at a pace they can talk easily and use light weights with high repetitions to bring a muscle to fatigue in the beginning,” Gangl said.

“The key is consistency. Find a way to stick with the program. Make it a part of your schedule, get a workout buddy, make it fun by doing something you enjoy. Give yourself variety by changing the program with the assistance of a trainer or take a class,” she said. “We usually work out twice as hard in a group.”

Gangl said nearly half of the people who join a gym leave within six months.

“It is difficult to make time for exercise these days with our busy lives; however, if we fail to do so our health will pay the price,” she said. “Exercise give us so many benefits. Not only will our health improve, but we will have more energy and be happier.”

Gangl has been certified as a Group Fitness Instructor by the American Council on Exercise since 1992, and as a personal trainer by the National Exercise Trainers since 2004.
