3 pounds shredded wheat cereal

6 cups walnuts, finely chopped

2 teaspoons cinnamon

1 1/2 pounds butter, melted

6 cups sugar

Juice of 1 lemon

Spread half the shredded wheat onto a greased, 2- by 13-inch baking pan. Pour half the melted butter over it.

Mix the walnuts and cinnamon together and sprinkle over the shredded wheat. Add remaining shredded wheat.

Make a syrup by combining the sugar, water and lemon juice in a saucepan and cook over low heat, stirring occasionally, for about 20 minutes. Allow the syrup to cool before pouring over the assembled kataife. Pour the remaining butter over the top and bake for 45 minutes in a 300-degree oven. Allow the kataife to cool and slice it into 10-12 servings.
