Nutrition program for seniors has openings in area

The NAPS (Nutrition Assistance Program for Seniors) has openings in the Pequot Lakes and Crosslake area.

The NAPS program is a free food program for low-income seniors, 60 or older. The U.S. Department of Agriculture program distributes canned fruits and vegetables, juice, milk, cheese, cereal, rice, pasta, meat and peanut butter.

Applicants must be residents of Minnesota and meet federal income guidelines to qualify.

To pre-register, call Sandy at 218-326-4420, ext. 22, or apply in person at the Cole Memorial Building in Pequot Lakes from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, May 15.

Applicants must provide proof of name, date of birth and address at the first appointment, in addition to knowledge of gross monthly income.
