CRMC donates equipment to Emily Food Shelf

Cuyuna Regional Medical Center in Crosby recently donated no longer needed equipment to the Emily Food Shelf.

Several office partitions and lights will be sold at an upcoming community garage sale with all proceeds helping to feed the community’s hungry.

Emily’s Food Shelf is part of Second Harvest North Central Food Bank, a nonprofit organization serving more than 135 hunger relief agencies in Aitkin, Cass, Crow Wing, Itasca, Koochiching, Kanabec and Mille Lacs counties. The Food Bank provides food that feeds many hungry children, working families, disabled people and the elderly.

Second Harvest serves some of the highest poverty areas in Minnesota. Every year, an estimated 28,700 different people are served by the Food Bank, and about 3,500 different people receive emergency food assistance in any given week.

The amount of food distributed rises each year as the number of people coming to hunger relief agencies continues to increase.
