Pine River Lions Club revs up for 2014

The Pine River Lions Club plans to participate and host a number of events in 2014. The club has made numerous donations to area clubs, organizations and individuals over the past month.

The Lions’ Take A Kid Fishing event is scheduled for Saturday, June 7, at the newly remodeled Pine River Dam Park. All Pine River-Backus fourth-graders will be invited to participate in this free event where kids are paired with fishing partners from the area for a day of fishing and prizes on Norway Lake and the Pine River.

The Lions will host their annual Pancake Breakfast during the Summerfest celebration at the Cass County Fairgrounds on Sunday, June 29. The Lions will operate their food booth at the Cass County Fair, June 26-29.

The Lions will continue to manage the camping duties at the annual Lakes Bluegrass Festival, scheduled Aug. 20-24. They also serve breakfast to festival goers and the public during the event.

Recently, the Pine River Lions made donations to the Teens Leading The Way program and signed on as a $500 sponsor to the Lakes Bluegrass Festival.

They continue to support the Lions Eye Bank, Lions Hearing Center, the Leader Dog Program and the Lions Club International Foundation, as well as many other local charities and causes.

The club meets the second Wednesday of each month and is always open to new members. For more information on membership, contact John Stranne at 218-587-2572 or Diane Johnson at 218-587-4700.
