Alaska's Brown Bears: A Photo Journey topic of program

Steve Kohls, Brainerd Dispatch photographer and instructor of photography at Central Lakes College and with the Minnesota School of Diving, including underwater photography, will present Alaska’s Brown Bears: A Photo Journey at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22, at the Northland Arboretum in Brainerd.

Kohls has traveled to Alaska for the past four years to photograph brown bears during the salmon run. He will share his photos of these bears as they fish and interact with each other.

Next September, Kohls will travel to Kaktovik to photograph polar bears after the village takes a bowfin whale on Labor Day weekend.

This program is sponsored by the Brainerd Lakes Area Audubon Society and the Northland Arboretum. It is free and open to anyone with an interest in nature. Refreshments will be provided.

I've worked at the Brainerd Dispatch with various duties since Dec. 7, 1983. Starting off as an Ad Designer and currently Director of Audience Development. The Dispatch has been an interesting and challenging place to work. I'm fortunate to have made many friends, both co-workers and customers.
