An estimated crowd of 300 people attended the Ideal-Waters Fishing Derby, sponsored by the Ideal-Waters Sportsmen’s Club, on Sunday, January 5th at Whitefish Lake.

(Photo) The dark boundary depicts the area that the city of Pine River is proposing to annex. Portions of Barclay, Pine River, Walden and Wilson townships are included in the approximate six-square-mile annexation plan.

Profane language from the mouths of teenagers became a city issue January 10 at the Pine River Council meeting, when a councilman suggested action against the youths.

By now all of our Journal subscribers and other interested parties have had a chance to evaluate the new look of their copy of the redesigned Pine River Journal. We have not conducted an opinion survey to measure the positive versus negative comments, but have heard from many of you personally.

(Ad) Pine Wood Cafe has sold.

Larry Thielen is from Omaha, Neb., and has 20 years of cooking and restaurant experience. He plans to continue the same family tradition as our family has over the last 36 years.

I've worked at the Brainerd Dispatch with various duties since Dec. 7, 1983. Starting off as an Ad Designer and currently Director of Audience Development. The Dispatch has been an interesting and challenging place to work. I'm fortunate to have made many friends, both co-workers and customers.
