Give a special gift to a child in need

This is the time of year for hospitality and generosity, and simple acts of kindness are happening all around our community. Kinship Partners has witnessed this holiday feeling firsthand.

Not long ago, a caring woman stopped by our office to complete paperwork and become a mentor. She said, “I want to read to a little girl and teach her to bake cookies. This is what I want for Christmas.”

A school bus driver called our office recently and asked if Kinship had any coats left from our Coats for Kids distribution. She had been noticing two sisters on her route who didn’t have warm coats.

She told us, “I knew if I called Kinship, they would help.”

That very day she gave coats and hugs to those girls.

A businessman in our area contacted us recently because he had heard a Kinship Advisory Board member tell their civic group about a 7-year-old boy waiting for a mentor who had lost a loved one in the last year. He listened to his heart and responded, “I want to help. I want to be his mentor.”

Is your holiday story still to be written? There are 39 children waiting in the Brainerd lakes area who would consider you a special gift. Make their eyes shine as bright as the lights on the tree. Be a mentor.

Kinship Partners serves families in Crow Wing and southern Cass counties and the Staples/Motley area by providing positive role models to youth ages 5 to 14. Offices are located in Pequot Lakes, Brainerd, Crosby and Staples.
