Radinovich to be recognized as Real Men are Mentors award recipient
Kinship Partners announces the 2013 Real Men are Mentors award will be presented to state Rep. Joe Radinovich, DFL-Crosby, District 10B, at Kinship Partners’ Taste of the Lakes fundraising event Friday, Nov. 22, at the Gull Lake Center, Grand View Lodge, Nisswa.
Radinovich exemplifies what an outstanding male mentor is. He has been matched with 12-year-old Richard, also from Crosby, for more than five years.
Richard has become part of Radinovich’s family, sharing holidays together in addition to their other activities. They especially enjoy hunting and Richard was thrilled to shoot his first duck last fall with Radinovich. Richard’s mom says Radinovich has been a positive influence on her son and that Richard is always eager to spend time with him.
Radinovich’s advice to folks thinking about mentoring is, “Don’t wait. Make a difference in a young person’s life today.”
“Today 24 of the 38 children on our waiting list are boys, many living without the guidance of men in their lives,” said David Downing, Kinship Partners executive director. “There is no better time than now for you to share your interests with a young man who really wants a positive, consistent and caring man in his life.”
