UCC to present the 'Final Gift' seminar Sept. 19
The Parish Nurse program is offering the “Final Gift” seminar for the sixth time since its initial presentation in 2008. The seminar will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, at Union Congregational Church in Hackensack.
For the first time, the program will be offered twice in one year because of wide-spread interest. Participants will assemble a notebook with written instructions and wishes regarding their own death, which will be available to their families at a time when decision-making can be a burden.
One of the best gifts we can give for our own peace of mind and to ease the burden to those we leave behind is a record of our wishes and other information that will be of benefit to them.
Craig Dennis and Jay Kline, funeral directors, will cover topics like pre-planning, options for burial, cremation, dying away from home and ways to save money by making the proper notifications as well as other pertinent topics.
Pastors Judy Gustafson and Michael Small will present information and lead discussion of church services, memorial or funeral options and putting together a service. They will explain why we have services and other concerns.
Marty Mann, parish nurse, will discuss and assist in completing an Advanced Directive.
Cost of the day-long seminar is $25 and includes the notebook and lunch. Pre-registration is required by calling 218-675-6300 or Marty Mann at 218-675-2283.
