David Leek of Pequot Lakes competed in the Special Olympics State Summer Games at the University of Minnesota. He won the gold medal in the 400-meter run, the bronze medal in the 100-meter dash and fourth place in the 200-meter dash.

The Lewises family purchased the Lost Lake Lodge and restaurant on Gull Narrows.
