Northland Teal Run planned Aug. 4 in Brainerd

The Brainerd area is expected to be home to more than 500 runners and walkers in this year’s Northland Teal Run, a 5K race that benefits the Minnesota Ovarian Cancer Alliance (MOCA).

MOCA is a Minnesota-based non-profit dedicated to funding research and providing support for women and families affected by ovarian cancer. Since its founding in 1999, MOCA has awarded more than $4 million to cancer research in Minnesota and it represents more than 800 survivors.

The Northland Teal Run is a fun, family-friendly 5K race starting at 8 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 4, at the Northland Arboretum in Brainerd. The run will incorporate a “Diva” theme.

The race is open to runners and walkers of all abilities; $5 of each registration fee benefits MOCA. Participants also have the option of collecting additional pledges, all of which go directly to MOCA.

Participants can register online at Early registration through Wednesday, July 31, is $27 per racer. From Aug. 1 to the morning of the race it is $32.

Racers will receive a T-shirt and race bag as well as food and beverages the morning of the event.
