Heritage Group North to host event Saturday

Heritage Group North (HGN) will host an event sponsored by the Paul Bunyanland Cultural and Historical Society from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, June 22, at the Pine River Railway Depot.

The event is open to the public and will feature presentations by historian and archeologist Douglas Birk, as well as several other speakers who will make short presentations on topics of historical interest.

Birk’s presentation is entitled, “The Archaeology of Motion. Transportation History in the Mississippi Headwaters Region.”

Also featured will be a sampling of film clips from the John Rohr collection of “Local Happenings,” which were recorded in Pine River and the surrounding communities from the 1940s-60s.

There is no charge; however, donations to the Depot maintenance fund would be appreciated.
