Gloria Dei to host Community Block Party on June 15

Gloria Dei Lutheran Church of Pequot Lakes is planning its third annual Community Block Party from 3-6 p.m. Saturday, June 15, at the church on Highway 371 between SuperValu and Dairy Queen.

This is a free event open to the community.

“It is a way for us to give back and to show we care, especially during the still struggling economy,” said Lorna Hensch, youth director of Gloria Dei. “It is a chance for families to come out and enjoy a fun and safe afternoon.”

The afternoon will include a car show, meal, games and prizes. There is no age limit to participate. Local community leaders will also be in attendance.

Other activities include Water Wars, an obstacle course, temporary tattoos, music, bingo, popcorn, National Guard pedal carts, emergency vehicles and more.

Gloria Dei volunteers plan the event and serve during the day, and area businesses and individuals donate money, prizes and discounts that make the event a success.

Donations and prizes can still be mailed to Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Attention Lorna Hensch, PO Box 126, Pequot Lakes, MN 56472.
