Opening Friday, June 1, in Pequot Lakes will be a new and, in many ways, unique gift shop, the Calico Cupboard. Owners are Bob and Joanne Hurst and Dil and Sherry Stachour.

The Pine and Lakes Clinic in Pequot Lakes became the Pequot Family Clinic after a five-year lease was negotiated between St. Joseph’s Medical Center and the Pequot Lakes Area Medical Development Corp.

Fifty-six students will receive their high school diplomas Sunday afternoon at Pequot Lakes School. The Memorial Sunday commencement is a tradition with the school. The commencement exercise is set for 2 p.m.

The Rev. Bruce Engen was appointed senior associate to the Rev. George Zeck for the Catholic parishes of St. Christopher’s in Nisswa, St. Alice in Pequot Lakes and Our Lady of Lourdes in Pine River. The Rev. Edward Foster of Our Lady of Lourdes recently retired.

Construction is well under way for the Nisswa Community Center expansion. The addition includes a large meeting room and remodeled restrooms. Funding came from the Nisswa Area Lions Club, which built the original structure, along with substantial contributions from the Nisswa American Legion and other civic organizations.
