Cub Scout Pack 101 has been organized at Crosslake, under sponsorship of the Crosslake Chamber of Commerce. A total of 29 Cubs and 12 Scouts from the Crosslake, Nisswa and Pequot Lakes area have already joined.

Vern and Linda Buss, Pequot Lakes, were recently selected “Outstanding Laypersons” by the Pequot Lakes Education Association.

It was a 10-year project, said Nisswa Chamber of Commerce president Bob Sheplee, but on April 27, the ground was finally broken for a new chamber and public restroom facility. The building is designed to be a replica of the old railroad depot and will cost $12,000-$15,000.

The Whitefish Alliance Church broke ground at a ceremony for a new building on a 10-acre site next to the current building.

The goal was $5,000 but Pequot Lakes High School students raised more than $10,000 at their American Cancer Society Relay for Life.

At the Pequot Lakes Invitational held at Golden Eagle Golf Course at Fifty Lakes, Kim Larson shot her best ever score with an 81 to lead the Patriots to fourth place.

I've worked at the Brainerd Dispatch with various duties since Dec. 7, 1983. Starting off as an Ad Designer and currently Director of Audience Development. The Dispatch has been an interesting and challenging place to work. I'm fortunate to have made many friends, both co-workers and customers.
