In business: Nisswa Motel. Answering the need for overnight accommodations for the Nisswa area visitors in all seasons, Frank Whitney has built a new 16-unit motel complete with a woodsie view and water beds.

Weekend fire in Pequot suspicious, say authorities. Pequot firefighters responded to a 3:30 a.m. call Sunday, April 17, to douse a fire, probably gasoline-ignited, in piles of lumber stacked along the Burlington Northern railroad right of way just east of the traffic light in Pequot Lakes.
Michael Moos of Moorhead, Minnesota, will serve a poet-in-the-schools residency in the Pine River schools during the week of April 25.

Fifty Lakes clerk to retire. Marjorie Eide informed the Fifty Lakes City Council she will retire after 10 years as city clerk.
(Graphic) This map shows County Road 6, through Crosslake, and State Highway 6 east of Crosslake. To eliminate the confusion, the Crosslake City Council is planning to change the County Road 6 to “Route 66.”

On Thursday, March 20, 38 students participated in the first annual Crosslake Community School Science Fair. Amy Mcghee was the winner.
County Care Homes became Heritage House of Pequot Lakes.
