(ad) Hail!! Jail for Sale!! Due to a scarcity of thugs and felons (we recently hung all reprehensible malefactors who have sinned against our commonweal) Pine River, Minnesota, Village of Halos, offers one used, pestilential two passenger portable jail, complete with infested mattresses, oft-missed garboons, and honey-buckets to match, if we can locate same.

Mr. K.V. Pearson, district highway engineer, conducted a hearing here Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock in the Pine River Armory in connection with the department acquiring two pieces of property: the Lake Region Hotel and the Pine River Locker, in order to facilitate a projected highway building program through Pine River.

The new Pine River Fire Truck has arrived and the firemen have already tested it out. The truck has a 1988 Chevrolet chassis w/3208 Cat diesel engine with 7506p.m. pump. The body was built by General Safety Corp. of North Branch at a cost of $89,500.

Methamphetamine use and production in central Minnesota is on the rise, and is quickly becoming a drug of choice for lakes area addicts.

Pine River-Backus sophomore Chelsa Schwegel was named to the Brainerd Dispatch All-Area girls’ basketball second team. A young player on a young team, Chelsa led the Tigers in most areas. Against all area players, she was sixth or better in four out of six statistical areas.
