Crow Wing County seniors can receive free legal services

Seniors living in Crow Wing County will have access to free legal services through an Older Americans Act grant the St. Cloud office of Mid-Minnesota Legal Aid received from the Central Minnesota Council on Aging.

The funds will be used to provide free legal advice, counseling and representation in court and administration hearings.

Anyone who is 60 or older and lives in Crow Wing County can get help with legal problems involving Medicare; Social Security; eviction or other housing problems; public benefits, such as medical assistance, food support and fuel assistance; family law issues, including domestic abuse and income maintenance; nursing home problems; home care services; power of attorney; health care directives; and debt collection.

No help is provided for criminal matters, wills, estate planning or real estate transactions.

Appointments are at The Center in Brainerd and can be scheduled by calling 218-947-7530 or the St. Cloud legal aid office at 888-360-2889.
