Steve Heslop, Pequot Lakes wrestling coach, received minor injuries while practicing a back flip with John Cook at the high school. Heslop pulled muscles across his ribs and chest.

Holiday gas prices same as in 1981. Prices for full-service regular currently range from $1.23 to $1.53 around the state.

John Wallin, a special education instructor at Pequot for 12 years, was named Pequot Lakes Teacher of the Year for 1983.

(Headline) Pequot bypass to be part of preliminary design of expanded Hwy. 371. Route around town not finalized, but MnDOT believes it would create safer, less congested road.

Nic Anderson, Pequot Lakes High School social studies teacher, ex-football coach, former Breezy Point mayor and soon-to-be former councilman, will retire after 18 years of service to Breezy Point.

I've worked at the Brainerd Dispatch with various duties since Dec. 7, 1983. Starting off as an Ad Designer and currently Director of Audience Development. The Dispatch has been an interesting and challenging place to work. I'm fortunate to have made many friends, both co-workers and customers.
