Local ovarian cancer support group participates in events

The Nisswa City Council and President Obama have proclaimed September as Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month.

Several members of the Team Teal of the North ovarian cancer support group represented the Nisswa area and participated in the 13th annual Silent No More Walk Run for ovarian cancer on Sept. 8 at the Rosland Park, Edina.

Also this month, the Team Teal of the North support group of Nisswa/Brainerd will provide information on ovarian cancer at two upcoming events: The 2012 Women’s Expo at the Sanford Center in Bemidji on Saturday, Sept. 22, and at The Living Local Arts & Crafts Fair and Women’s Expo on Friday, Sept. 28, and Saturday, Sept. 29, at the Hallett Center in Crosby.

The local group also volunteered at the Northland Teal Run for ovarian cancer at the Northland Arboretum in Brainerd in August. This was the first time this event was held in the area and the group plans to do it again next year.
