Emily's record-setting blood drive results listed

The Lakers Lions Blood Drive held in Emily set a record with 144 pints of blood collected.

The goal had been raised from 119 to 140 pints. The previous highest collection was 125 pints over the past 24 years and 59 bloodmobiles in Emily.

There were eight deferred donors but no incomplete donations, which were not included in the final count.

Donors included first-timers Lion Maria Boyd, Linda Conrad and Michael Moritz. One-gallon pins were awarded to Lion Karla Blevins, Katherine Bullock, Debi Fox, Eric Froidcoeur, Wanda Grecula, Lion Joni Larson and Brenda Wood.

Paulette Berndt, Stephanie Bright, Terri Datzman, Lion Will Jones, Susan LaFrance and Lynn Olson received two-gallon pins. Three-gallon pins were presented to Ardith Buchite, Lion Nancy Moritz and Myrna Sorvari.

Russell Philstrom received his four-gallon pin while five-gallon pins went to Douglas Greseth and Sara Minerich.

Massage therapist Robin Fish donated door prize gift certificates to winners Ardith Buchite, Heather Jones, Sue Kyner, Amy Donovan, Sean Thedke and Colleen Rousu.

The Emily area blood drive is sponsored by the Lakers Lions of Emily, Outing and Fifty Lakes who served donors root beer floats, courtesy of the Red Cross. The bloodmobile will return to Emily from noon to 6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 14, 2013.
