The heat wave, which has had the temperature hovering in the 90s for the past couple of weeks, was dissipated somewhat by rains which fell in the area..

Several accidents this week caused damage to cars of local residents, the first one occurring on Highway 371, at the fairgrounds entrance last weekend when Oscar Boquist’s car tangled with a truck, as he was coming on the highway.

From the Pine River Journal

A special meeting of the city council was held Tuesday evening, July 19, to assess the repair problem on sewer and water mains along Barclay Avenue. After investigation earlier this summer it was discovered that some of the storm sewer mains will need repair prior to putting the new coating of blacktop, which is scheduled to begin this summer.

A Mexican-American Potluck was held July 10 at St. Joseph’s Hall in honor of Monsignor Hogan’s retirement.
