From the Pine River Journal

An excited tourist from Cedar Falls, IA., Frank Hammer, rushed to Deputy Sheriff Townsend about 11:30 Wednesday morning to report the theft of his car, which had been parked in front of the Pine River State Bank. Mr. Hammer had removed the ignition and had them safely in his pocket so it was concluded that the thieves were old hands at the game.
