Christmas in the Park ornament still on sale in Crosby

The Cuyuna Lakes Chamber of Commerce announces that Madonna Maves, local artist and contributing member of the Serpent Lake Area Artists, volunteered to create the 2013 Christmas Ornament for the Christmas in the Park, slated Wednesday, Dec. 4.

Ornaments are being sold for $15 each at Gifts Galore and at Christmas in the Park.

The 2013 Christmas ornament is a depiction of “Lonesome Pine.” This drawing was inspired by the only Norway pine on Mave’s 36 acres on the north side of Clinker Lake. It’s the tallest tree on her property, peeking out above all the other trees.

Maves is a retired Bloomington elementary school teacher who always loved art. At age 50, Maves started to paint in watercolor. She then put her ability to teach together with her new passion to paint and started a new retirement career in teaching watercolor painting.

Mave’s studio is called Cottontail Studio and it is on Clinker Lake. She teaches Mondays and Tuesdays from June through October.
