Miss Nisswa Pageant to kick off Jubilee Feb. 15

The Nisswa Women of Today will kick off the 2013 Nisswa Winter Jubilee by hosting the Miss Nisswa Scholarship Pageant at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15, at the Lutheran Church of the Cross in Nisswa.

Reigning Miss Nisswa Mackayla Headlee will crown one of nine seniors competing for the title: Anna Bieganek, Kaitlyn Christianson, Kara Hansen, Megan Hintz, Molly Palm, Samantha Rathman, Elise Runberg, Nicole Traut and Carissa Voels.

Tickets to the pageant are $5 at the door.

Three judges will review each contestant’s essay prior to the pageant, as well as conduct 10-minute interviews in panel format.

At the event, the Miss Nisswa contestants will be judged in casual wear, formal wear and an impromptu question.

The Miss Nisswa Scholarship Pageant provides prizes to all participants, thanks to the support of area businesses and individual sponsors.

The scholarship pageant will include dance performances by both the Miss Nisswa contestants as well as the Little Miss Nisswa participants. Little Miss Nisswa Carley Maine will crown the 22nd Little Miss Nisswa in a non-competitive segment of the pageant. This year there are 15 second-graders hoping for the title.

Mistress of Ceremonies will be Stacey Waidelich, a member of the Nisswa Women of Today. Escorts for the contestants will be Brayden Campbell, Zean Baker and Jack Holland, Brainerd High School seniors who attended Nisswa Elementary School.
