Grassroots Concerts to present Teague Alexy on Oct. 5
Teague Alexy will be joined by Duluth’s Marc Gartman, a member of the bluegrass band Two Many Banjos at the Grassroots Concerts series with a concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5, at the Live Well Nightclub and Coffee Bar in Nisswa.
Alexy is also half of the roots band Hobo Nephews of Uncle Frank.
He explores his individual musical muse with a new solo release, “This Dance.” The album is an examination of a romantic in a real world.
He won four nominations for his song writing at the 2009 Just Plain Folks Awards in Nashville. He has three albums with brother Ian Alexy in the national touring, two-man, foot-stomping roots music outfit called Hobo Nephews of Uncle Frank.
The rest of the Grassroots Concerts season: Friday, Oct. 19, Michael Johnson; Friday, Nov. 9, Jonathan Byrd; Friday, Nov. 30, The Bitter Spills.
Admission is $10 at the door for adults and $5 for children under 12 with listening attention, when accompanied by an adult. At all shows, seating is first-come, first-served.
Show time is 7:30 p.m. (doors open at 6:30 p.m.). The Live Well Nightclub and Coffee Bar, 5459 County Road 18, is across from the A & W Restaurant and next to the school in Nisswa.
Grassroots Concerts are made possible in part by a grant from the Five Wings Arts Council through the Minnesota State Legislature. The series is a 501c(3) non-profit.
The concert series encourages donations of non-perishable items from those attending. Volunteers will deliver them to the food shelf.
