Jazz, tango music to be performed at Grand View

The Lakes Area Music Festival will present “Música Caliente,” an evening of jazz and tango music, Saturday, March 1, at Grand View Lodge in Nisswa.

Unlike the summer festival performances at Tornstrom Auditorium in Brainerd, “Música Caliente!” is being staged as a cabaret complete with hors d’oeuvres. The doors will open for cocktails at 6:30 p.m. with music starting at 7 p.m., featuring The Four Seasons of Buenos Aires by Argentinean tango composer Astor Piazzolla.

Performers include Jonathan Magness, violin, Minnesota Orchestra; Scott Lykins, cello, executive and artistic director, Lakes Area Music Festival; and Timothy Lovelace, piano, University of Minnesota.

A new festival photography exhibit by David Boran will be debuted, along with announcements about the 2014 season.
