Poetry on the Wall call for submissions

The Crossing Arts Alliance invites those interested to submit up to three poems for Poetry on the Wall, an opportunity for poets to exhibit their work and read at the reception.

Submission deadline is Jan. 10. Poets of any age must have lived for at least four months of the past year in the counties of Cass, Crow Wing, Morrison, Todd or Wadena.

Poetry must be submitted using black text on white background only (no graphics), preferably submitted as a Word file or PDF via email to by Jan. 10. (If you are using an unusual font, provide the poem as a PDF.)

Poetry submitted on a white 8.5- by 11-inch sheet will also be accepted. The submission fee of $15 per poet (or $10 for Crossing Arts Alliance members) helps defray the cost of the reception/reading.

No poetry shall violate any copyright and must be appropriate for a general audience. Poetry may be published or unpublished work. Poets will be notified Jan. 15, via email, as to whether or not the poems were accepted by the jury. Contact TCAA at 218-833-0416 or if you have any questions.

A juried exhibition opens Jan. 23 and runs through Feb. 28 at the Q Gallery at the Franklin Art Center, 1001 Kingwood St., Brainerd. Selected poets are invited to read their poetry at the poets’ reception and reading from 1-3 p.m. Feb. 8. The event is free and open to the public.

Poets are encouraged to invite guests. A People’s Choice will be chosen at that time offering a $100 cash prize.
