Walker Amazing Race Sept 28

Walker will host another year of its own “Amazing Race” as inspired by the popular television show. The event is Saturday, Sept. 28, starting at 3 p.m. in Walker.

The event is hosted by the local Working Together Coalition, which serves Pine River, Backus, Hackensack and many other area communities, as well as the Hackensack-Onigum-Walker-Akeley (HOWA) Family Center.

This will be year four of the local event. Teams in this event run and walk 2.5 miles through a course set out in Walker. Past years have included a canoe obstacle course for blindfolded participants, a timed challenge to put on a firefighter’s uniform and team puzzles.

Prizes are awarded for the first to cross the finish line, as well as craziest team costumes, youngest and oldest competitors, and teams who raise the most pledges. The grand prize for the most pledges this year is a kayak. Other prizes include Moondance Jam tickets and seaplane rides.
