P.J. Matthews, Carol Gustafson, Pamela Burnett, Theresa Eclov and Marilyn Bonk provided the music and message with help from emcee Mona Bean, who provided fun humor and perspective to the program.

Ryan Pels returned with his toe-tapping guitar and heartfelt stories. New this year was a quartet of “Lutherans” from St. Paul’s in Hackensack, including Ron Brauer, Pastor Judy Gustafson, Russ and Loralee Torkelson singing fun, spiritual songs. “Mitzi Pearl” was also back to hand out tidbits of homespun wisdom.

Anchoring the second half of the concert, the Calvary Four Plus One, a southern gospel quartet with Doug Pitt, Chet Kelm, Chet Olander and Jeff Corn, performed, including several new songs to their repertoire of old-time hymns and gospel classics. Their music and message highlighted the mission of Faith in Action — “Compassionate volunteers serving people in need.”

Next year’s concert will be at 2 and 7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 15. The concerts will remain free, community events with donations accepted at the door.
