Kansas City BBQ great to sign cookbooks at Turtle Town

On Saturday, Aug. 3, Ardie Davis will be at Turtle Town Books & Gifts in Nisswa from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. to sign his book, “America’s Best BBQ Homestyle.”

Davis is a charter member of the Kansas City Barbeque Society (KCBS), founded in 1986 as a club for competitive cooks. Today, KCBS is 11,000 members strong from across the United States, Canada, United Kingdom and Australia.

Davis is also the founder of the American Royal International Barbecue Sauce Rub and Baste Contest and a frequent barbecue judge. He has won seven world championships and has written six cookbooks.

“America’s Best BBQ Homestyle” answers the question, “What do the best pitmasters make when they get to choose their favorite recipes?” The book is a collection of the favorite recipes of people who have gone pro, made so accessible that any backyard griller can succeed. It’s filled with photos of the dishes and the pitmasters who created them.

Davis is a native of Kansas City who enjoys vacationing in the Brainerd lakes area.
