“Short People” will be one of three pieces performed by the Consensus Ensemble, and “Three Beats for Beatbox Flute” will be played by Brainerd lakes area native Karsten Jensen.

Three Brainerd High School students will begin the program performing a trio sonata by Corelli. They are Ava Figliuzzi, violin; Claire Gunsbury, flute; and Sophie Stubbs, cello.

“An Elizabethan Songbook” will feature BHS band director Chris Fogderud, trumpet; Sarah Fogderud, trombone; and Cathy Taylor, piano. Taylor is organist and music director of Lutheran Church of the Cross in Nisswa.

The Legacy Chorale of Greater Minnesota will perform three Scottish and Irish folk songs: “I’ll Ay Call in By Yon Town,” “Molly Malone” and “The Rocky Road to Dublin.”

A chamber ensemble will perform works by Mozart, Bach and Vivaldi to conclude the program. Violinists in the ensemble will be Leslie Zander, Sandy Larson, Ava Figliuzzi, Brianna Ruiz and Hannah Staehling. The violists will be David Jensen and Jessica Williams. Cellists will be Scott Lykins, Brea Hollister and Sophie Stubbs, and the pianist will be Grace Forbord. Lykins is the founder and artistic director of the festival.

The Lakes Area Music Festival, an annual summer series attracting some of the country’s leading orchestral and vocal performers, will take place July 28 to Aug. 18. All performances will take place at Tornstrom Auditorium in Brainerd and are free. More than 80 musicians and vocalists will be in the Brainerd lakes area as guest artists.
