On the hunt for Northwoods butterflies
Allison Snopek-Barta is a science teacher at the Bug-O-Nay-Ge-Shig High School. In 2011 she began a research project to search, count and document the existence of 88 species of butterflies known to exist in Cass and the surrounding counties in northern Minnesota. Over the past two years, she has discovered the locations of 81 species. She has a collection of over 7,000 photos of butterflies. She will be presenting her program at 1 p.m. on July 9 at the Cass County Historical Society Museum in Walker. There is no admission charge.
