Mixed media art intensive day camp offered for ages 9-15

A motivating mixed media art intensive day camp for ages 9-15 is back for a third year of spontaneous fun to spark student’s creativity.

The class will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday-Thursday, June 17-20, in the Eagle View Elementary School art room. There will be a final art show at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, June 20, that is open to the public.

Dar has new, exciting art lessons. The focus will be on color and design elements that add focus, depth and good composition to all art. Children will explore a variety of materials while drawing, painting, printing, expressing personal symbols, texturing and finishing techniques.

This class is intended to support the needs of each student, taking them to the next level in their art. Dar facilitates a “there are no mistakes” class with exciting demos making each hour a new adventure. There will be lots of encouragement giving students the confidence to create art that is uniquely theirs.

Students will need to bring the following to class: paper towels, ruler, drawing pencils, sketchbook, permanent double stick tape, paint shirt, permanent glue stick, black fine point marker, two pieces of 13- by 17-inch cardboard or foam covered with plastic, bag lunch and beverage. Two snacks a day are provided. Class fee is $195, with a supply fee of $28 payable to the instructor the first day of class.

The instructor needs a minimum of five students registered by June 10 to hold the class. Contact Pequot Lakes Community Education at 218-568-9200 to register or for more information.
